Phil Mickelson won his third Masters title on April 1, 2010 in Augusta, Georgia. He shot his final-round 67 for a 16-under-par total of 272 and became the fifth golfer in history to win his third green jacket.
His wife Amy along with their three children gathered around the 18th hole waiting for his victory. “We’ve been through a lot this year,” Mickelson said. “And it means a lot to share some joy together. She’s an incredible wife, an incredible mother, and she’s been an inspiration to me, going through what’s she’s been through”. Amy has been treated for breast cancer for the past year and was finally strong enough to make it on the last day of the tournament. As he greeted her at the end of the 18th hole a tear of joy ran down his cheek thanking his wife for everything.
I’m so happy for him and his family and I couldn’t be happier that he won the title! He always falls short and places behind Tiger Woods but it was great watching him steal the tournament. Tiger was featured in a quick interview with the media at the end of the tournament as he finished in fourth place. He mentioned that he was very disappointed in him self because he only enters tournaments to win. I thought that was very selfish of him and he should be proud after not playing competitively for the past five months. Anyway, I’m glad for Mickelson, he worked hard and it as you can see it paid off!!!
