The Clock Stops Ticking at the End of Season Eight

Fox finally announces that the show “24” is now coming to an end. They have been in production for eight long years and it is now time to stop the clock. "We've done eight years we're very proud of, and we're very excited about going into the film world with this," said Kiefer Sutherland in an interview with L.A times.

24 is so much more than just a TV show – it has redefined the drama genre and created one of the most admired action icons in television history," said Peter Rice, Chairman, Entertainment, Fox Networks Group. Millions of viewers each week tuned in to watch Jack Bauer save the day but it’s just not cutting it anymore. The L.A times report that the most recent episode of the show drew 8.7 million viewers on Monday; down 34% from Season 7's average of 13.3 million. At one point “24” captured the number one spot of adults 18-49. The executive producer Howard Gordon said, "everyone concurs that we want the show to end as close to peak form as possible." So it’s decided this epic show will come to end of their eight season filming.

Sutherland tells L.A times he is not ready to retire and you will be seeing him in upcoming films. He is eager to start a new project, “24” the movie.

It is so sad watching Jack Bauer in his final days of 24. Sutherland is such a hard working actor and not to mention gorgeous! At 44 years of age he works long hard days doing fight scenes that take months of tough work. He needs to work out everyday to stay in shape and maintain his Jack Bauer physique. I have to say he is doing a pretty good job with this task. I am so sad to watch his character Jack come to an end but I am really excited to watch his upcoming projects.
