Woman sells two kids for a bird

Donna Louise Greenwell has pleaded guilty for selling two children for a cockatoo and $175. Her attorney, Steve Sikich, claimed that she had good intentions for the children but it was an attempt of a lazy adoption.

Monday, February 23, Greenwell was sentenced to 15 months of hard labor for the two crimes she was convicted of. Investigator said that Greenwell called the Romeros that poster a flyer and asked if they would like to purchase the children for 2,000. The deal was made when the Romeros told Greenwell that they could not afford the price and she settled for the bird plus cash.

Greenwell had the children in custody for more than a year but claimed did they not get proper care from her. Another lawyer for Greenwell had said previously that they children were "abandoned to her care."

Her 15 months sentence was part of a plea deal compromised by the District Attorney. She would have been sentenced for 30 years of prison, a sentence unfair to what she really deserved.

The Romeros pleaded gulity to two felony counts of sale of a minor child. Their five-year prison sentences were suspended in exchange for their testimony against Greenwell.

  1. I can’t believe any one would do something like this, it’s shocking! I don’t understand why someone would want too sell their children, especially for a bird. If you didn’t want them, then you shouldn’t have had them in the first place. I also can’t believe that someone would actually buy children and give a bird as payment.
